Groom Scores with Football Wedding

September's Marrying Man of the Month trusted his wife to plan a wedding they would both enjoy. Before the Bears home opener, the bride and groom exchanged vows during a Sunday morning football themed wedding at the Chicago ESPN Zone. Read full Chicago Sun-Times article. The groom, Shawn Kelley, could have selfishly set his own wedding agenda. Reluctantly, Kelly gave up on flowers, a tuxedo and some swanky groomsmen gifts to let his new bride, Lindsay Huetson, follow her heart. "We were spinning around ideas for a casual, fun wedding, and this just popped into my head," says Lindsay. Since the groom is a Steelers fan after growing up in Pittsburg, the couple has divided loyalties to their NFL teams. After the Bears announced their first home game was against the Steelers, the couple figured it was serendipitous to hold their wedding before the game. The newlyweds wore jerseys and caps of their favorite players (the Steelers' Troy Polamalu and the Bears' Devin Hester) while walking down the aisle to the "Monday Night Football" theme. Even Officiate Michelle L. Oxman got into the football spirit with lines like "Will you give up your status as a free agent and make the welfare of this team your highest priority?" After their reception at the ESPN Zone, the couple ventured down to Soldier Field with the hopes of finding two tickets to the big game. Rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a lucky omen, and by the look of how much it rained on Sunday, there was a good chance this couple was lucky enough to find some empty seats. In case you were wondering, this was the first wedding reception at the Chicago ESPN Zone. The sales manager, Randy Hajduk, says he'd love to see the trend catch on, but admits most wives might not agree to a football themed wedding.

A Lady's Proposal Puts a New Groom on Unexpected Groomsmen Gift Duty

Submitted on 2/17/08 I am what you would consider “live in the moment” and much less of a planner. I had been dating this incredible, strong woman for about three years and I knew she was anticipating a proposal at any time. Though I had every intention of proposing I let many opportunities pass me by, Christmas, New years, Valentines Day, you get the point. The day before Mothers Day out of the blue she walked in the door like a little kid with the tip of her finger in her mouth and said "you are going to be mad" in a little girl voice. I asked why and she looked at the floor and said "I spent a lot of money today". Not seeing what was about to unfold I asked how much money and why would I be mad. She looked me in the eye and with a smile like a cat said "$6000.00" I was shocked by the amount and while laughing I said well why would I be mad? Once more the tip of the finger went back to her mouth as she said "because it was your $6000.00" I did not understand, I asked what could you have possibly spent that kind of money on? She told me that she had fallen in love with a ring, I was buying it and we are engaged. At this point (currently saving money to buy her a ring) I decided to make her sweat a little. I told her to put it up for when the time was right. She stomped her feet and proclaimed that we already lived the life of a married couple, she practically just proposed to me and it was unacceptable to her that we were not moving towards the inevitable future as quickly as she felt we should. Her behavior was hysterical to me. She plopped down and pulled off the best pout face I ever seen. Not wanting to ruin the moment I smiled and said well I didn't actually hear you propose. She smiled at me, got down on one knee and said "Casey, you are the most wonderful man I have ever met and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" I said yes... Later I told her I was saving money to buy her a ring and I told her how excited I was to spend the rest of my life with her. I am so lucky that my lady knows what she wants and that she was willing to give up the proposal that every girl dreams of to get what she wants. Even though I did not propose first I was planning to and I think this gave us an amusing and original story to pass down for years to come. Instead of the stories you hear over and over, I took her to a fancy restaurant and asked in front of a bunch of strangers, while ice skating, in a hot air balloon or at a game on the marque. Cuoco Getting Married with a Big Bang (Theory)

The Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite television shows. The geekiness, social awkwardness and admitted intellect of the four guy characters (Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon Cooper, Howard Wolowitz and Raj Koothrappali) is a funny matchup when paired with Penny Cooper, the aspiring waitress and actress that is willingly/unwillingly part of their craziness.   Well, the real life person playing the dingy but common-sense spouting Penny Cooper is getting married. As of September 2013, Actress Kaley Cuoco, 27, is engaged to tennis star, Ryan Sweeting. The pair has only been dated for about three months, a relationship that was started after Kaley’s brief relationship with the latest Superman, Henry Cavill. Even though it’s been a whirlwind romance, Kaley is quoted as saying she “knows he’s the one.” There is no word on the wedding date or details yet. Something else you may not know about Kaley is that she secretly dated her The Big Bang Theory co-star, Johnny Galecki (Leonard). Interesting that their on-screen romance was real as well!   We know you know who the gorgeous Kaley is, but you might not have heard of Sweeting. The 26-year old, Bahamian-born athlete has been a pro tennis player for the last seven years and currently trains in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 2011, he won his first ATP World Tour singles title, and he's currently ranked at 532 by the ATP, with his career high being 64. It turns out tennis is something that Kaley and Ryan have in common; she was a nationally ranked amateur tennis player when she was a child! Our personalized racquet club sign would make a great wedding gift for the happy couple – or, perhaps, Sweeting would like to give these as groomsmen gifts?! We’re sure they have sporty friends, so a personalized gym duffle would also make great gifts for groomsmen – especial when embroidered with the recipient’s name.   If you are getting married and have a wedding party comprised of The Big Bang Theory like wedding attendants, we have some great choices in groomsmen gifts. For example, your friends similar to the shy Raj who can’t speak around women unless he’s had a drink, would definitely benefit from an engraved flask. GroomStand.com has dozens of flask options from that will help loosen up any inhibitions. For the friend that may still live at home with his mother (like Howard), we suggest our black leather key ring and the hint that he should get a key to his own place to put on it. For computer nerds like Leonard, our Rhodium plated thumb drive comes in handy and Sheldon-types would love to pass the time playing a game or two on our premier chess set. All of these ideas make great groomsmen gifts, best man gifts, gifts for fathers, brothers and guests.   What do you think of Kaley getting married? Do you relate to any of these The Big Band Theory characters? Let us know in the comments below.

Best Celebrity Weddings

Celebrities are just like us. They meet people. They fall in love. They get engaged. They get married. Of course, when celebrities tie the knot, they do so while dodging the paparazzi! 2014 has brought a number of celebrity nuptials. A few were super secretive surprise affairs while others were very public, and many of them were truly unforgettable. Here is a look at some of the weddings that stood out to us this year: George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin George Clooney married British-Lebanese attorney Amal Alamuddin on September 27. The couple chose Venice's Canal Grande as the venue. The event had many memorable moments from the couple exchanging their own vows under a beautiful white rose-covered arch to taking a jaunt around the canals in a private boat. Lauren Conrad and William Tell Lauren Conrad and William Tell said, "I do" on September 13. The wedding was held in southern California and reportedly featured fine food and even finer cocktails; however, what's been buzzed about the most was Lauren's gown. The fashion icon chose to wear a custom Badgley Mischka gown that was simply stunning. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt The world was shocked when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt tied the knot in a secret ceremony held on Aug 23 in France. The ceremony was private with Brad wearing a suit right out of his closet and Angelina wowing everyone in a dress made by the master tailor at Atelier Versace. All six of the couple's children participated in the wedding, giving their mother away and acting as flower girls and ring bearers. Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross When the sister of Jessica Simpson marries the son of Diana Ross, you know you're in for an extravagant celebrity wedding, and the nuptials of Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross on August 31 didn't disappoint. Although the event was delayed by rain, the event was truly magical with the couple riding in a horse-drawn carriage and exchanging traditional vows in front of Diana, who is an ordained officiant. Jessica was the matron of honor, and her children were the flower girl and ring bearer. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West By far the most publicized wedding of the year was that of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West held on May 24, and it's no surprise since the couple is nearly always in front of the cameras. The couple was wed at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, and then held a star-studded reception. You can check out the entire wedding by streaming "Keeping up with the Kardashians," which had an entire episode devoted to the event.
