Bachelor Party Hangover Cures
Bachelor party checklist: Super hot stripper - check. Personalized flasks as groomsmen gifts for all your best buds - check. Official last night of booze-fueled debauchery as a single man - check. The bachelor party is going to be off the hook, but no one wants to pay the price for it the following day. At GroomStand, we want to keep the good times with your groomsmen good, so here are some level-headed tips to party hard and recover by wedding day. What is a hangover? Before you go out and get nuts, it's best to understand what's going on when you slug down drinks. Hangovers are not fully understood, but what we do know is that alcohol depletes vitamins and water from your body, which makes you dehydrated. Alcohol is also a mild diuretic - meaning it makes you pee a lot more than normal. As the body absorbs the alcohol, the stomach is irritated and the liver processes the alcohol from ethanol to methanol and acetaldehyde... which ends up being a toxin. The Hangover Cure It's recommended that you drink one glass of water in between each drink of alcohol. Since your bladder might explode under these conditions, replacing those vitamins and water is the name of the game. Sports drinks or children's dehydration remedies are chocked full of B12 and other vitamins, which makes them great sources to turn to during and after your big night of drinking. If you have some great groomsmen, they'll get you up in the morning for some light exercising. When you move around, it helps your body remove all the toxic chemicals faster than lying down. Hand out some Personalized Louisville Slugger Major League Baseball Team Logo Bats as groomsmen gifts so you can smack a few dingers at the local ball field. Not all hangovers are this easy, and as awesome as your bachelor party is, you may need some other options. Other hangover options Every culture and background has their own idea of what helps a hangover, here are a few unproven, but helpful hints: Latin, Spanish and some Asian cultures turn to spicy foods. The idea is that with all the spices, your heart rate increases and you sweat out all the toxins just like you would if you were working out. The only downside is that the spicy foods might disrupt an already upset stomach. Many European cultures believe it's a good idea to consume greasy or fatty foods before and after a night of drinking. These dense foods tend to absorb alcohol much better than compared to drinking on an empty stomach. If you're feeling super ill, you can try a table spoon of honey in a glass of water, which is known to relieve nausea and the shakes associated with hangovers. As for medications, opioids like hydrocodone, codeine and oxycodone can provide pain relief. The mix of some of these medications with alcohol can be toxic, so make sure to only take these after you've stopped drinking. Talk to your Physician before attempting a extreme hangover remedy. Never take Tylenol after an all-night drinking binge. You do want to make it to your wedding, don't you? Fruitless remedies Some people turn to more alcohol in the morning, aka "Hair of the dog." Drinking more normally makes matters worse. If you plan on going this route, drinks like the Bloody Mary combine the spices and vitamins mentioned above for a well-rounded hangover wake up. Fructose and glucose (sugar), artichoke or any dietary supplement have no scientific confirmation of preventing any signs of a hangover. Wedding Tip: Designate one of the groomsmen or the best man as the party planner. Make sure he has all the details together regarding transportation and hangover cures, and reward his efforts with great personalized groomsmen gifts to remember your legendary night. Preventing your groomsmen from getting sick is far better than dragging a fallen soldier around all night long.

Avoiding Wedding Day Disasters
If you live in Turkey you can count on one thing, your wedding will likely not be boring. Instead of focusing on what groomsmen gifts you'll be either giving or getting, depending on whose wedding it is, you might be just lucky to escape with your life. The Asian Times Reports: "It is traditional for men and sometimes young boys to express their exuberance by firing into the air. If the weapon of choice is a shotgun, injuries are limited because pellets come down to earth with relatively little momentum." The article goes on to say that mostly they fire hand guns that have bullets and not pellets, which makes about as much sense as groomsmen gifts of Barbie dolls. Bullets, if you didn't already know, come down about as hard as they go up. And that's really, really hard. They've had multiple deaths and for some kooky reason the government doesn't want to shun tradition and outlaw this extremely dangerous rite of passage. The article continues... "...at another wedding Sezin Akoy was hit by a bullet fired by one of a 17-strong gun crew. She fought for her life but was delivered home in a coffin." 17-strong gun crew...that's a lot of celebrating, and if each of them had 6 bullets, you're talking more than a hundred rounds all speeding back down to the ground. Guess what folks? Someone's bound to get killed!! Let's keep the guns at home and celebrate in the OTHER traditional way, with groomsmen gifts of flasks full of liquor! Ask For Directions? Never!!
It's simply in the DNA - if he's a man, he won't ask for directions. Women wonder aloud constantly, "honey, we're lost, I see a gas station ahead, let's pull over and ask where the highway is!" She'll be lucky to get a grunt as he speeds right on by the station. I am a man, so I understand that extremely bizarre phenomenon all to well. Somehow asking for directions is humiliating and should be avoided at all costs. A fantastic solution to this is a groomsmen's gift that even the most finicky and spoiled guys will like. The Personalized Sportman's Gift Set incorporates three essential gifts that all of your important guys will really love, a compass, a flashlight and a handy pocket knife and it's all built with a great looking and durable brushed stainless steel that will last forever. Now, forever can be a pretty long time, so that might be an exaggeration, but it'll last a long, long time. Your boys will never pass by the gas station again without knowing exactly where they're going, because heaven forbid they get lost and show up late for the wedding! An Unforgettable Wedding Night
This article is written expressly for those few, but existing grooms-to-be that are still virgins. We've all seen the "40 year-old Virgin", so we know there are certainly Andy's out there, and chances are if they waited this long to lose it, there will most certainly be a barrel full of pressure on them once the ceremony's over, and it's the evening after the big day. Nina Callaway in her "Sex Tips for Virgins on their Wedding Night" article writes that: "The pressure of the wedding night can be too much for any man...if things aren't working, try to change up the mood..." We have some ideas as to how to change up the mood. Starting with a nice bit of libations for both bride and groom to settle the ole nerves. Sometimes the best way the guys can say thanks for getting great gifts is honoring the main man of the night. Especially if he's an Andy. Perhaps a nice smoke and drink with the gifts you got them is just what the doc would order in a case of wedding night jitters. Whatever the case may be...we recommend lots of patience, lots of kissing and hugging...and our best wishes for a wonderful, life-long union! Technorati Tags: groomsmen gifts, wedding stories, flasks

An Insured Wedding - Sleep At Night
The idea not only has merit, but when you read the headline, you automatically wonder why no one has pushed for wedding insurance in the past. According to a Media Post Publication article, less than 5% of weddings in the U.S. are insured, and the average cost of a wedding is at a pricey $27,000! With so many potential things that can go wrong, you can actually cover yourself with plans that include coverage for severe weather, lost deposits, vendors who don't do their job, military deployment and others. All this peace of mind for a non-deductible few hundred bucks? Seems like a real no-brainer. I wonder if there's a policy if the bride-to-be runs off with the best man or one of the groomsmen (no groomsmen gifts for him!). I'll have to check into that as these things do happen, you know. Not saying it ever happened to me, but I see it in the movies all of the time. Here's an additional example of how the coverage works. If your large wedding party, groomsmen, bridesmaids, families, etc, all show up and the photographer for whatever reason, dies, or flakes out and never delivers these pics, the coverage would pay the cost of getting the families and wedding party back to take the photos again. Listen, I've seen some of those wedding photographers out there. Many are great, but that scenario is definitely NOT out of the question. All In A League Of Their Own
At least that's true when you're the Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh. Buckingham Palace recently unveiled 60 facts about the couple to mark their diamond wedding anniversary. The facts go as far back as their four month engagement all the way up to the present and their anniversary celebrations. It's interesting to read about the details, like say a platinum and diamond engagement ring. Or maybe reading about some special wedding guests to attend (King and Queen of Denmark, the King and Queen of Yugoslavia, the Kings of Norway, Romania and the Shah of Iran). But from all of the information about the two, one of the coolest has to be that Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten (the Duke) had not one, but two stag parties. For the first one the press were invited to tag along and then afterwards, that same night, he went with his groomsmen and the rest of his closest friends over to the Belfry Club. Nice. Now whatever gifts he got for his groomsmen were probably out of most people's leagues, but that's not to say that there aren't some cool major league ones available for us (those European leagues never get things right). Like for instance an NFL team money clip or even their own home run slugger with their name on it. Whatever the case just be relieved that you don't have to get gifts as expensive as the ones Philip did, I mean that would suck having that much money...

All He Wants for Christmas: Groomsmen Gifts on Every Guy's Santa List
Like most guys, I avoid the mall at all costs. On Black Friday, a poor WalMart worker met his death in a shopping stampede - yet another reason I chose to shop online. Every year, I toss and turn with what to get my buddies. As the holiday season draws near, my dreams of sugar plum fairies turned to nightmares of angry buddies. If you're looking for groomsmen gifts or holiday gifts for any guy (like your buddy, brother, fiance, or father), check out these great gift ideas. Forget the Sweater, This Year - Give Beer Guys like to celebrate the holidays with their favorite libation in hand: Baileys, Beer, White Russians, Martinis - whatever. But like with most things, guys are territorial when it comes to their liquor. No one wants their cold-sore ridden friend (shudder) to accidentally sip from the same glass - personalized barware lets everyone know that beer is his. Chances are, your guy is a sucker for personalized glassware and barware. Pair these presents with a membership to a beer-of-the month club and you're golden. This personalized sports mug prepares him for upcoming Superbowl parties and as groomsmen gifts, guarantees good times to come. These personalized old-fashioned glasses make the perfect glasses to toast with on New Year's Eve. And for a wild New Year's he'll never remember, give him these engraved island shooter glasses along with his preferred licorice libation - Jagermeister of course! Meaningful Groomsmen Gifts and Keepsakes This year, the new gift giving trend is something thoughtful and not necessarily expensive. Most guys don't collect sentimental things, unless you're talking comic books, coins, or sports memorabilia. I suppose there are a few secretly sentimental guys out there. For them, I propose personalized gifts like these engraved cufflinks. Round, square, or flashy, cufflinks make the perfect keepsake- he can pass them along once his little ones or nephews are old enough to wear a real suit. GroomStand Bonus Tip: Present the cufflinks inside this personalized cherry keepsake box for a simple, sentimental, and manly gift he'll surely love. Spread Cheer this Season with Sports Memorabilia Get ready for some football! But this year, think beyond the logo hooded sweatshirt. If he has a cool pad, present him with personalized NFL pub signs. They're great groomsmen gifts and holiday gifts for sports fans who write to Santa with only one wish: that their team wins the Super Bowl. Their favorite team might not get the championship trophy, but your guys will feel like winners with these personalized pub signs. If you're still not sure what to get your best buddies or groomsmen, check out our Groomsmen Gifts for the Best Value and our Tell Me What to Buy section at GroomStand.

After Wedding Battle Plan
You and the fiance have every little detail in order. The colors are picked, the cake is made, the tuxedo is ready to go, and you handed out the groomsmen gifts. Yet, one of the let downs of "the big day" is that it's only one day. You make all these wonderful plans. Have a few laughs. Poof! It's all over. Now you're stuck with a ton of one-time use wedding goods (unless you're getting married again sometime soon, but that's a different problem). GroomStand is on the scene to give you a heads-up on how to make an efficient and effective battle plan for the day following your wedding. Wedding Keepsakes Make a list of all the stuff you (or the future ms.) want to keep. Traditionally, this list includes: Toasting Flutes Top layer of the cake Unopened liquor Wedding favors Guest book If you're being whisked away to the honeymoon directly after the reception, it's a good idea to designate one of the groomsman to collect the items. Make sure to give that groomsman a special groomsmen gifts to show your appreciation for all the extra effort. The Wedding Dress When it comes to the dress, your bride is going to have a few options. Preserving the wedding dress takes some time and effort, but it is the symbol of the wedding day that she can hold onto for the rest of her life. Another trendier option is to donate the dress. This green alternative allows the dress to have new life in another wedding, and since these programs are ran by charitable organizations, your donation is tax-deductible. Look to Brides Against Breast Cancer for more information. Also, be sure to spread the word to the bridesmaids and groomsman. Those extra tuxedos and dresses are widely accepted at high schools as formal wear for low-income students. All Your Other Stuff Get some return on your investment. You know there is a market for all of your white napkins and tablecloths because you bought it in the first place. Instead of throwing all that stuff out, there are many wedding minded Craigslist type forums to unload all of your unwanted goods. As for food, seek out a local food rescue program. Food banks are also an option, but you might not have as much luck because most wedding food is perishable, and food banks tend to only deal with non-perishable food (e.g. canned food). To locate your local food rescue program, visit Feeding America. If you're real savvy, set up an arrangement between the food rescue program and your caterer before the wedding to avoid any of the mess. Flowers are always beautiful, and no one cares if they've been used. Great donation spots for your flower arraignments and centerpieces are hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living centers. Visit www.nursinghomesinfo.com or www.assistedlivinginfo.com for more information. Your wedding vows are forever, but your wedding materials are a one-time thing. Take the effort to plan your wedding recycling program, and you will feel great about reducing waste, and you might create an opportunity to earn some of your money back. GroomStand Hint: If your groomsmen have a ton of stuff they don't use, give them tickets to a game or event as groomsmen gifts to reduce their impact.

African Wedding Crashers
A crazy little story came out recently about the fate of a couple of brothers in Africa who decided to crash a wedding. Anyway the story goes that Hlakkaniphani and Sithembiso Ziqubu arrived at a wedding in Hlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and were enjoying the activities up until the guests finally discovered them. They were politely asked to leave, but apparently that courtesy didn't extend to all of those present at the wedding. Upon leaving the brothers were chased and attacked by a group of wedding goers (aka vigilantes). One of the brothers was stabbed to death, while the other got away with a few injuries. Kind of crazy down there in Africa, but at least we can hope to assume it wasn't any of the groomsmen that went vigilante, especially if the groom had purchased them gifts of a certain knife because with knives of that kind of quality there would be two less wedding crashers to worry about. A New Outlook on Men's Jewelry
When shopping for groomsmen gifts, don't count out men's jewelry. Our guest blogger from the Gemological Institute of America provides keen insight into the latest men's jewelry trends. Carlsbad, Calif. With all the cultural conversation of today's "metrosexual" man - well groomed, sophisticated, and cosmopolitan - it's no wonder that men's jewelry is approaching center stage in the fashion world.Jewelry design experts at the world renowned GIA (Gemological Institute of America) say men's jewelry is not just a passing fad. In fact, designers and retailers are devoting more time, attention, and store space to men's jewelry than ever before. "Men today are demonstrating increasing fashion sophistication among themselves. They are undoubtedly more comfortable wearing jewelry - non-wedding rings, necklaces, and bracelets, for instance - than their fathers were," said jewelry design instructors for GIA, where students from all over the world learn to design and manufacture jewelry. According to historians in GIA's library, the emergence of men's jewelry is not a recent phenomenon. Early monarchs and noblemen wore extravagantly bejeweled items--clothes lavished with diamonds, pearls, and gold buttons; fashionable pearl stickpins; ornamental timepieces; ornate diamond necklaces; and swords set with decorative gemstones. Handcrafted men's designer chain necklaces in silver are a popular trend in men's jewelry. Men today are showing the same desire to want to show their identity to the world, and they're at ease and confident enough to complement a watch with a bracelet, necklace, or ring. And, now more varied forms of jewelry have become socially acceptable for them, said GIA. But what kind of jewelry do modern men want? What catches their eye? What do they think catches the ladies' eyes? GIA design experts say old and new styles are merging. Recognizably masculine pieces are being paired with a fresh, feminine twist, and designers are taking advantage of the growing trend of genderless fashions. Soft and lustrous Tahitian pearls - a tradition in women's pieces - are being incorporated with leather for a sensuous male touch. White gold and rubber is an emerging combination seen in bracelets and necklaces for men. Cufflinks are more popular than ever. Classic designs in gold, silver or platinum are always a big hit for the conservative businessman. Integrating diamonds, black onyx, malachite, garnets, rubies or sapphires represents a novel departure for the sophisticated man who likes to match accessories with his attire. And, men don't have to be professional athletes or rock stars to wear earrings these days. Handcrafted designer pieces in silver or platinum can create an elegant blend of contemporary masculinity. A diamond stud is perfect for a night out on the town. The attractiveness of stainless steel has found its way into men's jewelry. The attractiveness of stainless steel, most prominently seen in the watch segment, has found its way into fine jewelry for men. It has the same high-polish appearance of platinum - and the durability - but is much more affordable. Stainless steel and other metals, such as silver and titanium, are gaining popularity in rings. Chain necklaces are designed for an industrial, manly look. Steel pendants can also be combined with a leather cord for a nouveau bracelet or necklace. Some designers are even setting diamonds into stainless steel pieces. Any diamond purchased should come with a GIA grading report, which gives details of the quality of the diamond based on the Four Cs--cut, color, clarity and carat weight. For more information on these topics, visit GIA at www.gia4cs.gia.edu, or call 800-421-7250.

A Lady's Proposal Puts a New Groom on Unexpected Groomsmen Gift Duty
Submitted on 2/17/08 I am what you would consider “live in the moment” and much less of a planner. I had been dating this incredible, strong woman for about three years and I knew she was anticipating a proposal at any time. Though I had every intention of proposing I let many opportunities pass me by, Christmas, New years, Valentines Day, you get the point. The day before Mothers Day out of the blue she walked in the door like a little kid with the tip of her finger in her mouth and said "you are going to be mad" in a little girl voice. I asked why and she looked at the floor and said "I spent a lot of money today". Not seeing what was about to unfold I asked how much money and why would I be mad. She looked me in the eye and with a smile like a cat said "$6000.00" I was shocked by the amount and while laughing I said well why would I be mad? Once more the tip of the finger went back to her mouth as she said "because it was your $6000.00" I did not understand, I asked what could you have possibly spent that kind of money on? She told me that she had fallen in love with a ring, I was buying it and we are engaged. At this point (currently saving money to buy her a ring) I decided to make her sweat a little. I told her to put it up for when the time was right. She stomped her feet and proclaimed that we already lived the life of a married couple, she practically just proposed to me and it was unacceptable to her that we were not moving towards the inevitable future as quickly as she felt we should. Her behavior was hysterical to me. She plopped down and pulled off the best pout face I ever seen. Not wanting to ruin the moment I smiled and said well I didn't actually hear you propose. She smiled at me, got down on one knee and said "Casey, you are the most wonderful man I have ever met and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" I said yes... Later I told her I was saving money to buy her a ring and I told her how excited I was to spend the rest of my life with her. I am so lucky that my lady knows what she wants and that she was willing to give up the proposal that every girl dreams of to get what she wants. Even though I did not propose first I was planning to and I think this gave us an amusing and original story to pass down for years to come. Instead of the stories you hear over and over, I took her to a fancy restaurant and asked in front of a bunch of strangers, while ice skating, in a hot air balloon or at a game on the marque. Think you've got what it takes to win the title "Marrying Man of the Month? Submit your story today!
